Love Practice Meditation led by Lama Rod Owens Date: Sunday, February 19th Time: 1:00pm-3:00 PM
The purpose of love practices is to awaken our innate ability to love and be loved on a much more profound level. It helps us to work with our own issues around loving and being loved within a safe and simple practice.
The love meditation practice has several pieces that include: 1) Identifying a source of unconditional love 2) Practicing accepting and resting in that source of love 3) Sharing that love with others in our lives
This is a great practice to do within the context of a relationship, romantic or platonic. The practice is based on visualization and reflection working with sources of love already present in our lives. T
Tonglen The secondary practice that will be introduced is called Tonglen, which means taking or sending or replacing ourselves for others. This practice is also very profound and substantial on its own but I think a brief introduction to the practice would be an excellent supplement for the love practice is an excellent tool that helps us develop healthier ways to be with others.
Cost: $30 To reserve your place or for more information email info@yogasole.com or call 718. 541.1382

Yoga Sutra Study Group led by Roman Palitsky
Date: February 26th, 2012 (meets every 3 weeks)
Day/time: Sundays 12:30pm - 2:00pm Class is FREE All are Welcome!
THIS GROUP IS FOR ANYONE interested in learning more about the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, regardless of background, experience, or goals. There will be opportunities to reflect upon and deepen our understandings of how the Sutras interact with practice, as well as to get a sense of the Samkhya philosophy and cultural context that are woven through the text.
This is an opportunity to learn from one another. Everyone brings a unique skill-set and understanding to the table, and since the Sutras are, in important ways, a truly foreign text to all of us, none of us can possibly be experts.
The Yoga Sutras function on many registers: the devotional, philosophical, physical, practical, ritual and mystical being only a few prominent examples. Everyone's interests will hopefully be taken into account so that the group can be in service to our needs, so that we can focus on whichever facets of the text most interest us.
Recommended Reading: There are many different translations of and commentaries on the text, but perhaps the most up-to-date and comprehensive version out today is the Bryant translation.
Assigned Reading for next meeting Feb 26th Please read Sutras 1.1 - 1.51 (1st pada)
However, other commentators such as Satchidandanda, B. K. S. Iyengar, or Feuerstein, if less comprehensive, have their own merits. In short, it's up to you :).

| Roman Palitsky completed a Masters of Divinity from Harvard University,
where he studied embodied spirituality, yoga philosophy and Sanskrit,
and pastoral counseling.
Roman has been teaching yoga since 2007 to a range of people
from many backgrounds and with different needs. His approach to yoga is
very student-oriented: everyone has a different body and therefore
benefits from different approaches in yoga practice. When we gather for a
yoga class, we keep this in mind as we all move and breathe together.
His focus is accented by both, anatomical precision and individual need.
Roman was trained in Satsang Yoga, which has a therapeutics focus and
is derivative of Vini, Iyengar and Ishta yoga styles. He is a certified
Trauma-Sensitive Yoga instructor through the Boston Trauma Center. In
May, 2010 Classes with Roman often incorporate traditional elements with therapeutic components from a more
contemporary milieu. Yoga practice carries tremendous potential for
growth and revelation for the community as well as the individual but
that doesn't mean it should done with a somber attitude. His classes can
get very silly, and that's part of the yoga!
